A Park Home Living Journey

We recently visited one of our valued customers. The park we visited is filled with satisfied residents, and the park owner has already placed their 10th order with us. We are happy to share what Mr and Mrs Menham think about their recent park home living move…

Mr & Mrs Menham

Where Were You Before Park Home Living?

Before our park home living adventure, we lived comfortably in an extended four-bedroom semi-detached home in a peaceful cul de sac in Swindon. However, the idea of downsizing had been on our minds for a while, and our daughter who works for Quickmove introduced us to the possibilities at Lillybrook.

Upon our first visit to Lillybrook, we admittedly had a moment of uncertainty.  Nevertheless, we had already scheduled an appointment, so we met Luke, who took us to explore the new park and showed us the spacious plot that would eventually become our new home. The plot is spacious and included a charming patio area, that confirmed a sale for us.

Transitioning to park home living is a significant decision. We experienced some days of hesitation, but our visit to Harbur changed everything. The opportunity to design our own home was exciting, and we were amazed by Harbur’s commitment to high standards and finishes. Even my brother, who works for a large National House Builder, was thoroughly impressed and couldn’t believe the quality and finish of our new home.

Inside, the walls are smooth plastered, creating a different feel compared to a holiday lodge we have, it’s evident that the SIPs built home offers a unique and superior living experience.

Lorraine's Personal Touch

One of the things that made our park home truly feel like "home" was the opportunity to add personal touches. I absolutely adore my walk-in wardrobe, which was transformed into a delightful dressing area and was overjoyed when we had shelves fitted in the kitchen so I could display my Betty Boop ornaments. The space was thoughtfully designed to accommodate not just these sentimental decorations but also being able to bring our ownAmerican fridge freezer and microwave. It's these little details that truly make our park home uniquely ours, and we couldn't be happier with how it all turned out. It's the small touches that make a big difference in making this space feel like our own.

How Has It Changed Our Lifestyle?

Though it's still early days, we can confidently say that we haven't looked back. While we won't deny that we occasionally miss our previous home, we're now focused on making our park home our own. We've lovingly placed our furniture and pictures, turning this home into our new home.

Is There Anything You Would Change?

If we had to mention one thing, it would be adding an extra Velux window in the kitchen.

 Bob's Perspective

We are over the moon that we decided to downsize. We looked at the market for bungalows, only to find that even half the size of our current home would cost half a million pounds. It would have felt like moving from a shoebox to a matchbox. Discovering what Harbur had to offer was nothing short of excellence and cemented our decision.

We feel incredibly safe here, and though we haven't had the chance to meet our new neighbours yet, we've heard about the recent community event—a hog roast.

Harbur's Customer Aftersales team has been exceptional; Prior to retirement I was a senior contracts manager for a National House Builder, in the construction industry myself and having dealt with more snagging issues in my previous twenty years than I can count, I was pleasantly surprised to find minor snags. Our friends and family who've seen our home couldn't believe the quality of the build and finish—simply excellent.

Our son-in-law, a contracts manager himself, jokingly asked if we'd found any snags. He was taken aback by the outstanding quality of the build and finish, and he echoed our sentiment that the finish is excellent.

People who've visited us have generally been shocked by the type of build and what it offers. Our previous next-door neighbours have even considered the possibility of becoming our neighbours again.

Also, with the warranty 10-year platinum warranty, we have this for peace of mind.

In summary, we're genuinely delighted with everything.
