Finding Freedom and Community: Jane’s Journey to Her Forever Park Home in Swanage

When Jane and her husband first started thinking about park home living, they weren’t sure if it was the right fit. But after discovering the perfect park nestled among peaceful surroundings with views of the Purbeck Hills — Cauldron Barn Farm Park with Berkeley Parks and a visit to Harbur Park and Leisure Homes everything began to fall into place.

That’s when Berkeley Parks introduced them to Harbur, and the journey truly began.

From Curiosity to Certainty: Jane’s First Visit to Harbur

Jane’s very first appointment with Harbur was a personal tour of our factory — not to design her home just yet, but to explore, ask questions, and see whether park home living felt right for them.

As she walked through the factory, she was able to see homes in various stages of build and meet the skilled Harbur team members working on them. She was particularly impressed by the SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) construction — seeing up close how robust, well-insulated, and environmentally efficient the structure of a Harbur home truly is.

Understanding the thermal qualities and strength of SIPs gave her confidence that downsizing didn’t mean compromising on comfort or warmth.

By the end of that first visit, Jane and her husband felt certain:

Downsizing from bricks and mortar to a park home was the right decision.

A Second Visit — Designing Her Home.

Once the decision was made, Jane returned for her second appointment — this time for the exciting stage of specifying and designing her home.

Working closely with Claire, our interior designer, and Sam throughout the process, Jane selected everything from the layout to the finishes. She added personal touches, including her favourite feature — a bespoke media wall that would become the heart of her living space.

Seeing Her Home While It Was Still a Shell

One of the most memorable moments for Jane came when she visited the factory again while her own home was still just a shell. With the walls open and the SIPs exposed, she could clearly see the structure, insulation, and craftsmanship that would support her home for years to come.

Walking through the framework and visualising where each room would be brought the entire project to life.

This visit also gave her a chance to meet the production team — who were working on her home that very day. It made the experience personal, real, and deeply meaningful.

Throughout the journey, Sam kept her updated with photos, videos, and progress notes — ensuring she never missed a moment.

Watching Her Arrive at the Park

Harbur captured videos and images, so she could see her home leave the factory. Jane eagerly waited at Cauldron Barn Farm Park as the home arrived on the lorry and was moved into position.

Seeing her forever home settle onto its plot, surrounded by the coastal beauty of Swanage, was a moment filled with joy and pride.

Exceptional Customer Care Beyond Move-In

For Jane, the support didn’t stop once the keys were handed over — and that was something she truly appreciated.

The Harbur team was ready for her arrival, ensuring everything was in place for move-in day. Even after she settled in, the team stayed in touch, answering questions and offering friendly guidance whenever she needed it.

One moment she loved recalling was when the team helped her decide what to place on her feature fireplace wall and with their help was able to pick a beautiful skeleton clock — it’s the kind of thoughtful, personal support that made her feel cared for long after the build was complete.

A Fresh Start in a Coastal Community

Cauldron Barn Farm Park offered Jane everything she was hoping for — a peaceful setting, a warm community, and beautiful surroundings.

Jane loves her finished home which is everything she dreamed of and is so grateful to Harbur Homes for all their care and support in every part of her Journey.

Pebble her dog settled immediately, finding cosy corners and new walking adventures along the seaside.
